At Goals we are at the heart of grassroots football communities, supporting many footballers from all walks of life enjoy the beautiful game.
Our charity partnership with the British Heart Foundation is so important as we recognise that cardiovascular health remains at the forefront of people’s minds in not only the professional game, but for grassroots players where many footballers will begin their careers.
In the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in the usage of our defibrillators and having the British Heart Foundation as our charity partner, we can educate our staff, players and partners on the importance of living a healthy and happy life. Only recently we decided to renew all our defibrillators and we are extremely proud to have a defibrillator and trained staff at every club in the Goals estate.
Working alongside the British Heart Foundation we are aiming to raise £75,000 over the next 3 years.
The British Heart Foundations vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. They raise money to research cures and treatments, so they can give people more time with the ones they love.
Heart attacks that strike without warning, strokes that shatter futures, new born babies born with broken hearts. These are just some of the cruelties of cardiovascular disease. And the brutal reality is, there is so much more for science to discover before we can beat the world’s biggest killers.
That’s why the British Heart Foundation exists. Funding research is how they change the game. And we all have a role to play. The tools at our disposal today - from heart transplants and pacemakers to stents and portable defibrillators - are all down to research. Research made possible thanks to the support received by the public.
Covid-19 has put people with heart and circulatory diseases at greater risk of serious illness. The pandemic has also caused significant disruption to cardiovascular care, with thousands of people currently waiting for life saving heart treatment and care – and waiting list numbers continue to grow each month.
Having a charity partner is a first for Goals and personally I cannot think of a better partner than the British Heart Foundation, we are both committed to improving the nation’s health and fitness and there is no better way to do this than by exercising regularly.Ian McDermott , Managing Director of Goals.
We are delighted that Goals have chosen to support the British Heart Foundation. The work they already do through access to defibrillators across their clubs and training their staff in both CPR and defib use is enabling them to help save lives if someone suffers a cardiac arrest whilst playing football. By working together we hope to improve knowledge around heart disease for both their colleagues and their customers, , ultimately helping people to make heart healthy choices each day. The money raised by Goals will go towards our life saving research – we receive no government funding and it is only thanks to the support of companies like Goals and the generosity of the public that we have been able to turn mind-blowing ideas from the realms of science fiction into treatments and potential cures.” Becky Beevers, Fundraising Manager at the British Heart Foundation
We’ll be raising funds through awareness days and tournaments to name just a few. That’s why we’re so pleased to announce our new charity partnership with BHF. Together, we have a shared vision to tackle the fear of heart related diseases. This new partnership will help people improve their knowledge and also open up fantastic fundraising and volunteering opportunities for our colleagues.
