GOALS JOINS THE KICKSTART SCHEME AND THE PRINCE'S TRUST TO GIVE YOUTHS THE BEST CHANCE TO SUCCEED IN EMPLOYMENT
Goals recently partnered with The Kickstart Scheme to help young adults in unemployment have a chance of gaining life and work skills that can give them the ‘kickstart’ they need at gaining future full-time employment.
The Kickstart scheme gives 6 months placements to 16–24-year-olds who are at risk of long-term unemployment. It means that those young adults who are receiving Universal Credit can come into the business on a 6-month fixed-term contract and work 25h per week, gaining invaluable work skills. They will learn various duties within Goals Clubs to get an all-round experience to take that on to their future.
To ensure the best transition into work Goals have introduced a buddy system for those taking part in the Kickstart scheme, aiming to give them a great positive start and a warm welcome as part of The Goals Family. A buddy is a friendly face at work who introduces the new Kickstart employee to colleagues, helps them master their tasks, and supports them with any questions they may have throughout their 6 months at work. Not only are the Kickstart employees getting to experience a workplace environment but Goals have also partnered with The Prince’s Trust to make the time spent with us really worthwhile to the individual. So far, we have employed six individuals from the scheme at our Dartford, Aberdeen, Ipswich, Black Country & Norwich clubs who are thriving within our Goals Team.
Jennifer Ganson, Goals Head of People said, “I was absolutely delighted when our board of directors decided that Goals would take part in the kickstart scheme. We wanted to offer a meaningful work placement for 16 to 24 year olds, providing the best support possible during their placement. I believe it is an amazing opportunity to learn about our company which is a diverse, fun and vibrant place to be. It also allows the opportunity to build confidence in a relaxed working environment. Our management team are really enthusiastic about the programme and we would hope that after their placement there may be scope for permanent positions within Goals for our delegates’’
